The carbs are 36mm dual Dellortos for the Type 3 engine. I don't know if they still make them but try C.B. Performance as they sell all sorts of carb stuff. I would recommend that you try to get 32mm or 34mm carbs as the 36mm is too big, even for my engine (except when I'm above 4000RPM, roughly). I live in Beaverton (close to Aloha) and I work at Intel...GEE, I wonder where THAT'S located? :p Jason Renville also lives in the area and has a nice blue Fastback. We both belong to the Rose City Volksters, a VW club for ALL Volkswagens (air and water). Contact either one of us if you're interested. Though you can contact me for technical advice you would probably be best off posting to the list as there are those who know quite a bit more than I do, especially when it comes to stock vehicles. I'll add my three cents worth when appropriate (like synthetic oils, suspension changes and computerized ignition systems, right folks? :) Toby Erkson air_cooled_nut@pobox.com '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L '75 Porsche 914 stock 1.8L for sale ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: T-3 Census Author: sboicourt@juno.com at SMTPGATE Date: 4/4/97 6:41 PM Hey Toby, I bought a '70 sb xfi. The guy that I bought it from had replaced the motor. At the same time, he replaced the fi with a type 1 single weber (it's an ugly mess). Anyway, my point: What dual carb setup do you have? I would like to convert as well. Also, where in orgun? I'm in Hillsboro. Would you be available for technical advice? Sboicourt '70 sb
