Re[2]: Brakes

As a matter of fact... Nope, I just have the stock brake system (well,
except for the cross-drilled rotors). However, several years ago I did
rebuild the rear cylinders myself (it's easiest if you have a garage) and
last year I had brand new rotors, calipers, brake lines and the master
cylinder installed with standard brake fluid. I'm seriously considering
taking Jim's advice and using synthetic brake fluid.

By the way, that "channeling" thing I was talking about is called
"slotting". You can cross-drill and slot brake drums as well. The braking
surface of the drum (the patch of metal the pads press against) is what
gets the treatment. I'd be willing to bet that someone with an all-drum
braking system with their drums cross-drilled would notice improved wet
weather braking.

So, uh, anyone know where I can get this "sledg-o-matic"? I kinda dig the
sounds of it ;)

P.S. I *had* to replace the master cylinder as it finally failed on me one day
(can you say, "PANIC"?). But after 24 years of faithful service I guess it was
about time to replace the stock unit.

Sounds like a VW to me! Actually mine does this too and the only remedy
I've come up with is to give myself more room between me and the car in
front of me. It works.

Toby might have some ideas though -- what are you using for brakes Tob?
Some digitally controlled hyperhydraulic cross drilled sledg-o-matic
titanium plated super brakes probably!
