	This is from Bob Hoover's Oil Temp Sensor sermon:

"Generally, any oil temperature sensor mounted in the sump will show a
lower temperature than the main stream of 'working' lubricant. This is
because the sump has some obvious stagnation points, such as the corners." 

	By the way, for folks who haven't been introduced to them, Bob
Hoover's sermons are in invaluable resource--not to mention well-written

You may just find yourself rethinking the Conventional Wisdom about VWs
that's propogated by the VW magazine$...
