Although I am Dutch I speak some German as well (we live next to each other, so our languages are related). >I found a red box under my spare tire with a VW emblem on it. >Imprinted on it are the words, >Amtlich Zugelassen Means that it has been approved (zugelassen) by a government organisation. >PRUF-NR. Test nr. >Warndreieck Warn = warning; dreieck = triangle >~K13702 some sort of official ID nr. >Inside the box is a reflector looking thing that unfolds into a >triangle. Obviously for road side emergencies.(that's what I call a >pessimistic manufactorer.) It has nothing to do with being pessimistic, but everything with legislation. In many countries you have to carry one of these in your car. There are even countries where it is compulsory to carry a fire extinguisher and first-aid box. Not a bad idea, really, if you know how to work those things. >My question being, did a previous owner just pick this up somewhere, >or is it some kind of rare accesory, or do all you guys out there have one? I would not know about that. But the VW logo seems to denote it is an 'original' VW accessory. Because I have to carry one around, I would fancy one with the VW logo.
