Production #'s

I've tried to get production #'s for Variants, Notches, and Fastbacks
from the VW folks before but had no luck. They say that they did not
keep records for these things, but I find that hard to believe. However,
the numbers they did give to me agree with what Aaron Britcher said. If
any one has a copy of the AutoMuseum Wolfsburg catalog from VWAG, there
is a picture of what's called a 1960 EA 97, which looks like a Notchback
from the "A" posts back with a bastardized 411 (read ugly) front end on
it. Could this be the original Type III? The text is in German, so it's
hard to say but it seems to be the prototype for the Notchback, but may
be some sort of Brazilian model. Anyone know? Also, does anyone know
what the color code 72 72 15 stand for? It's for my Notch. Also, the
Type III list is mentioned in the latest issue of VW Trends magazine
under Internet sites, good going, Greg. Maybe it'll bring in more info.
