Ok, well not completely, The production numbers and actual quantities could be the same up until the end (actually Aug) of 1964, when VW changed to the new numbering system. Here's where that line of thinking ends. (Isn't it odd that VW made EXACTLY 500,000 cars EVERY year after '65?) I KNOW this isn't true or VW would still be producing the Type 3 NOW. This reference was only for a guide to the year if the vin number is known. The question of ACTUAL production quantities still exists.
