You can check the timing marks and timing technique for the dual vacuum distributor on the club website ignition timing page (assuming you still have the stock parts on your engine). The timing adjustment is very critical, and the tiny changes in vacuum as the engine speed changes can affect the firing point significantly when it is not quite correct. That's my theory anyway!
