Re: [T3] Response2: Carb Conversion

If you look at my old e-mails you will see that I and others had
this problem before; Car running rough at higher speeds, car
sometimes having that push/pull effect on highways, loss of power
the faster one goes and overheating (checked looking at smoking
dipstick). My first problems were that I had bad wiring, used Bently
and the internet for schematics, checked and fixed wiring; next I found
stickey injector points that floated at higher speeds, found grease on the
hinge turned to glue and stone , cleaned those up in gasoline and put new
lubricant on them ; found an erratic pressure sensor that still held vacume,
I replaced that (found the problem while using someones good one, much
bigger story than this); found that my injectors sprayed ugly pattern
erratically (used car's system as test set) replaced those with
junkyard ones that had a good pattern, worked better but still funky
at higher speeds, tested these using the pedal pump feature in my
EFI (not all EFI has this option) found that eventhough the injectors had
good pattern they would cut out at higher pedal pumping (engine off,
efi on 25 injections per pump a second, 3 pumps a second equals 3500 to
4500 RPM) ; replaced with rebuilt ones from Python and found 8 bad ones
that would cut off at higher speeds and had less flow (sucking brand)
, bought Bosch
and one rebuilt from Bret instruments and these had great flow capacity
and no cut off at equivalent to 7000 RPM ; Uphill low power , upon
much pain and suffering I found my distributor center lobe
assembly completely stuck with stone grease and corrosion, this
assembly was supposed to rotate with the weights and the vacume advance
for total advance of 23 degrees to 25 degrees (depending on model),
dissassembled top part of dist (was not easy at all , much pain and
suffering here) cleaned, lubed and reassembled ; Idle not
working well, too high at times and too low in others found
erratic air regulator valve , repaired it using draconian methods.

This is a shorter list and more simplified version of my long
painful journey. You can find the super long version of each case
in the past threads for this and last year. Each phase made my car work
better but still seemed not fully cured . The result of my process
was very good acceleration (see cars in my rear view mirror all of
a sudden and passing real estate quite quickly) top speed that
I have gone now was 95 MPH (no winds of course) with absolutely no
hesitation and some pedal left over. Hill climbing is better than the
Bronco II I had with V6 and better than an Escort I had also
Gas mileage is better.
Engine starts within 1/2 second when cold while standing outside
of car and turning key (no gas pedal pressure). Smooth as glass
at all speeds with absolutely no missing. My engine is bone stock
with only mod is the exhaust.
