Bob, thanks for “the light”.

 In a nutshell, I’m screwed, lol…
It’s just those holes… Do you have any suggestions? I’ve seen your work through The Samba and the other sites you mention and I can count on your
 advice, eyes shut.

Thanks for the compliments. If the rust is really bad, I suppose you could
graft in the lower portion back into it. Patching is another option if the holes
aren't too big.

I say to do a graft. There is a rolled edge on all sides, so the main issue would be how to seam it. Be some trouble, but in the end, you would save money and time. If the door is gapped good, that is something you do not want to mess with. You can mark the position of the hinges, which will help. Also, there is nothing like original! ;-)

Have you done “door work” before? One shop near my
house did the doors on my friend’s El Camino and they came out great.
It’s
the passenger’s side door that’s in pretty sad shape, specifically the
underside. Check it out. Sorry, no pics from the underside.

I've done it before, and will probably do it again. If your local shop does
good quality work, then I'd have them do it, as it might be cheaper than
shipping a door from across the US. :O
Unfortunately the link didn't work. All I got was a black screen page that
loaded up.

The reason the bottoms rust is because of the dain holes not being cleaned, then water sits in the bottom, and rusts it from the inside out.

Sure odd the way the side rusted, though. Probably paint loss that was not taken care of. Never got my auto real dirty, but it almost looks how the rood debris would splash/hit. Knowing how it was done, one can prevent it from happening again.

The black page has the thumbnails. You then have to click on them to get it larger.

Thank you,
Adriel
