My '67 was Maaco'd back in 1978 over the original
paint after I did the prep work. Within months I got
stuck behind a gravel truck which peppered my car.
There is no space bigger than a half inch without a
nick in the paint (and windshield too). This was in
Seattle. I left there for the California foothills
about 7 years later where the Sqbk was driven for a
few years then sadly sitting for a number of years in
the sun. It hasn't been painted since.

There is only one spot where the paint has peeled down
to primer and it's only about 4 square inches.

Eventually I'll repaint, but the question is how far,
and how should I take it down? Seems that if the paint
held this long, I should only need to scuff it up. It
needs some dent fixing. How should I deal with the
zillions of nicks in the paint?

My seals are generally bad due to sitting in the sun
too long, so removal and re-installation is probably
out of the question. They would fall apart.

Can I leave the seals in place and paint it?

I wouldn't do the painting myself, no skills in that
area, so would be taking it to a shop.
