Thanks Jim. I have both the Bentley manual and Fisher book and am well 
familiar with them, as well as the factory VW workshop manuals and the 
Elfrink Type 3 book. All are filled with detailed information about 
engine assembly but none offers specific present-day practical tips 
like tapping the holes for the fan housing bolts deeper and using 
Loctite 242 to keep them from backing out. That's the kind of advice I 
was hoping to get from the list.
