Years ago in my ignorant youth, I put in a good, used universal-case engine in my first fastback, and was perplexed why it wouldn't start. I now remember moving the wires around 90 degrees to accommodate this. I now remember reading on this list that timing on #3 is slightly different to accommodate the fact that this cylinder gets hotter.
