[T3] how do I test a wiper motor out of the car?

Hello 
I was wondering if someone can tell me how to test a
windshield wiper motor that is not in a car now? 
I see 4 wires comming out of the wiper harness. I am
not sure wich ones to connect to a battery and I do
not want to ruin this unit.
It is a 12 volt motor.
