Don't depress the pedal. Its relatively Normal though, it just means that it's a bit lean on startup, you can rich it up by finding a temp sensor that is a bit higher resistance cold (they vary quite a bit) but then I find that the run too rich for too long. You can also get fancy and add in resistance to the head temp sensor that is controlled by a temperature controlled switch which will bypass the added resistance as soon as the engine starts to warm. I just live with the extra start once in a while with my 71.
