OK, that gives you a roughly 900 mile drive to the Invasion .. each way.
But it's not that bad of a drive when you think about it -- straight 
shot up
I-5 all the way, and no time-zone changes.

Greg Merrit (list owner) and I went to the 2002 Invasion in Idaho from 
the
Bay Area.  With where I lived at the time, it was about 650 miles each 
way,
which really isn't as far as it seems believe it or not.  Besides, we 
caught
up with more CA Invasioneers at a rest area outside Sacramento that'd
come from SoCal .. I think LA and Santa Barbara but don't remember for
sure.

If you can, go for it .. even if you have to drive a "modern" car with 
higher
gas mileage to keep the cost down.  The Invasion is as much (or moreso)
about the *people* as it is about the *cars*.
