As Dave finally pointed out to me on my '69 on the way home from Idaho 4 years ago. I'd rebuilt many speedos from the later years where there is a hole for the trip odo reset shaft, but I wasn't paying attention when I did the '69 gauge and didn't realize that only one way worked out right.
