The caps are for use on valve stems that are dished on the ends. They
were used more on the older engines than the late models. What you are
seeing listed ARE a repair part, for when you can't get a good valve
adjustment.

The dealers never even stocked them, as they cost almost as much as a
complete gasket set. But if the repair was a warranty job, that only
required pulling 1 head, that is all the factory would pay for.
