The whole rocker area is one big heater channel once the rust gets to the heater pipe itself. It won't be as hot due to the large area of external rocker, but it will still be reasonably effective just left with the defrost channel selected, and after a while you will have surrounded the heater pipe with warm air anyway. Tape over the foot-well vents too if you think the valve that directs the heat to footwell or screen isn't working properly. It's surgery to get into the heater pipe anyway, and any hose inserted fromt he back will restrict the flow more anyway. Dave.
