Thanks, but no: that is more confusing!
Scaling these figures down to 60 gives ~3030, which would put my HP *Lower*.

I got my gear ratios from a book of old magazine test drive reports on the car,
which were for 60s models. Your figures are more likely to be right, as they're
for a later car. Did they change any ratios over the life of the car. Maybe the
later FI car got a longer top gear, or diff?

Can't find anything in Bentley or the VW owner's manual for the car.

Anyone with a tacho?
