I had excessive end play for quite a while after the Amzoil and it didn't
make any noise. Is your fan hub going bad? Pully scraping on something in
the fan housing? Loose fan housing?

As you let your foot off the gas, it was real bad with the tranny bad be
even now with the new tranny in it it seems louder than when the engine was
new. I had a parts engine that sounded like it was running in mush at its
old aga, kinda like the cam gear was the wrong pitch. >>
It sounds more like a noisy throw out bearing (replaced that last year with
an NOS one, and no change), but the sound doesn't go away when depressing
the
clutch. It does it in neutral, or in gear, sitting still or moving. I'm
guessing that the end play has changed enough that the crank is moving back
and
forth, creating the sound. I only say that, because the noise goes away
under
acceleration, but if you let off the gas it returns. Sometimes it'll do it
while
moving in reverse, but I haven't been keeping track of that. I do know I've
got
the correct amount of pedal freeplay (1"), so I know that's not the cause.
Thanks for any help.
