Seal lip was a bit worn, not pointy all the way around, a bit worn on one side and not so much on the other. No cracks, just stiffer than the used one I pulled out of the square. How did the seal lip look? Was it still pointed? If you stretched it did it have little cracks? (I don't expect to see cracks in the new red ones.) > The cam plug was in place but had a couple nicks in the outer rubber > surface, they didn't seem to go through and it didn't give me the impression > that it was leaking but it sure did come right out of there when I speared > it with a screwdriver The center of that plug is only thin rubber, and I > can see this stiffening up after enough years and cracking... crappy design! I'll bet those are silicone rubber and won't be as affected by time and heat as some of the old seals. I would at least oil the OD of the new seal to allow it to slide into place gracefully. > So, no smoking gun, but a layer of haze....
