Re: [T3] Rear torsion Arm bushings?

<x-flowed>Personally, I'd fit the stock rubber replacements available from CIP etc if you can't get original VW ones. They make a huge difference to handling and if they wear quicker than genuine ones, well how often will you need to do it? Most of our cars don't rack up that many miles these days so they will probably last for years.
As a matter of interest, I bought some genuine ones from VW only a few years ago here in the UK. As they are the same as a Beetle, (in spite of the 311 number) they may be still available.

311.511.219 is the metal cover plate for swing axle torsion bars, not the rubber
bushings at all.

Would pay us to get some of that stuff over to the mainland USA in a container -
better still, into Europe!

Subject: [T3] Rear torsion Arm bushings?

I asked a while back about the rumor I keep hearing that
the eurothane bushings squeak, and the new rubber bushings available
don't last long enough to be worth it. That seemed to be confirmed by
the list,
and it was suggested the best option is to find good used
bushings. And that perhaps T1 bushings would work.

I've found this guy, who's ad claims to have NOS bushings:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=298857

but is this the right part number?:

311.511.219 Torsion Bar Bushing 78 pcs.

And if so, doesn't the 311, imply that the T1 doesn't have the same
bushing?

Thanks for the help.
