<x-flowed>And I really mean kaput!
I used brute force to attempt to get the escutcheon off the switch to use my replacement switch, but things went awry.
The escutcheon is totally seized to the shaft and the innards of the switch sheared off, leaving me with a shaft and escutcheon attached to each other spinning merrily around while the switch is still on the backside of the dash. It's probably still attached to the brass piece on the other side, but the shaft is also stuck and not rotating.
I'll fab a bracket for below the dash to mount the replacement switch to. It will give me a place to put a momentary switch for a windshield washer pump as well, and whatever else I end up having to mount external to the normal dash location.
Anyone have any spare escutcheons?
This one appears to be mated for life!
