Re: [T3] Windshield Wiper Motor 3-wire?

<x-flowed>My Henry Elfrink book has a schematic for a '66 ("1600") with three wires from the wiper moter: Black (53a, 1,5 mm), Green (53, 1,5 mm) and Black/Yel (53b, 1,0 mm). They go to the three coresponding connections on the wiper switch. Wiper motor ground is through the housing to chassis. The text describes the ability to regulate wiper speed by "an upper knurled disc on the push button panel (or turning the knob on later models)" . . . ?

Subject: [T3] Windshield Wiper Motor 3-wire?

I uploaded a photo of my extra wiper motor that only
has three wires from it. Black, brown, and black/yellow.

Photo on thesamba.

The various wiring diagrams I've found show either
two wire for 6 volt (black & brown) or 4 wires for
12 volt (black, brown, black/violet, black/yellow).

The one I have is missing the black/violet wire.

Any ideas on where it should be hooked up on
the motor? or the consequences of it missing?

I hooked up this motor using the three wires
but nothing happened, so it may be dead anyway.

I find it really odd that the splices were within the
sheath, as if it were done at the factory, or someone
went to a lot of trouble to sheath it after splicing
the wires together. They were not soldered either.

Anyone dissected the wiring on a wiper motor
and found this?
