There is less room inside the FI distributor, so Pertronics makes a special unit for us. While a "pointless" ignition certainly has its appeal, in total lack of maintenance, the points type works well and lasts a long time. The electronic replacements have a nasty habit of failing in a couple of years, which completely cancels out their apparent advantage. That's too bad, because I think we'd all like a permanent solution to this ignition maintenance issue. FWIW, if you're having trouble with points wearing out quickly, or not holding their adjustment for long, I rebuild distributors for about the same price as an electronic replacement, and this rebuild fixes that problem, among others. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
