The one time I removed a rivet to replace the seal, I regretted it. I was
never
able to put things back together in a way that looked
reasonable.

I had thought of just cutting away that little piece of rubber that goes
around
the upper hinge, but you could also reglue it. So that's an easy
workaround.
But doesn't the lower hinge post pass right thru the middle of the seal?
I
think that's the show stopper.
Hi All,
I was going through these old posts trying to figure out the best way to
replace my vent wing seals. Did anyone ever discover how to get past the
"show stopper" Jim mentioned above? (i.e. how to deal with the
lower hinge post if you're going to try the "cut and glue"
method). Or would I be better off removing the rivets to do the job
without cutting anything, and trying to find replacement rivets? And on
that note, is there currently a source for the upper pivot
rivets?
Thanks!
