I am talking about Factory rebuilt engines. Not shop built. And no, The
factory did not advocate the shops line boring cases, but they did. I
have torn many a KD engine down that could not be rebuilt because of
some of the things that the factory did to it, and you could not get
replacement parts.
In the final stages of the factory rebuild program, the engines were not
rebuilt in Germany, but were rebuilt by a contractor in Canada.
