Well at least its reverse, and I know how it got that way and how to keep it from getting worse. When I drove this tranny about 20 years ago before I parted that car out it did sound OK in reverse, and that one tooth with the chip is only one that has any significant damage on it. The reverse gears are the only ones that are straight cut. It's the 1-2 syncro hub that you're seeing, it's got the reverse teeth on the outside of it. Pretty common unfortunately. -Bill > > The new tranny im using has a good looking bearing > in it, but when looking > through the oil fill hole I noticed that there is a > chip missing from one > corner of one of the teeth on the straight cut gear > just inside and to the > right of the filler hole, Which gear is this?
