I to my misfornune have discovered that both inner and outer wells in the front are rotted through. One was very poorly patched with what seems to be alluminum flashing and a rivet gun. Which of course will just make things rust all the faster. Both bumpers are pretty much intact but the mountings have rusted through at the welds where they meet the body. Any suggestions on repair. Will if be easier to fabricate the parts myself and reweld them or should I be looking for a donor body come spring time? >> You can do either, but if you decide to fix it, you might want to really look the car over for more rust. It also depends on how bad you want to keep this car around, and how much you want to spend. I'm sure you could find a cleaner example looking in the Samba classifieds, but you then have to figure out how you'll get it home. The areas you want to fix are for the most part flat sections, so this shouldn't be too bad of a fix. Just something to think about.
