for the Invasion in the Fastback this July.
I ave a few questions if someone could help me. Does
anyone know where I can get a tow bar for a Type 3 in
the Massachusetts area, or how to make one? And how
hard is it to transplant a T4 motor into the Fastback.
My 412 is an Automatic/fuel injected and with new fuel
injectors it will run and drive perfectly, but from
the dash board down is rotted out. Not sure yet if I
want to do this, but... >>

Welcome Mike, it looks like you've figured out how to post here. : ) As for
the tow bar, there isn't one you can buy for the t-3. But if you do a search
on the Samba t-3 forum, you'll get enough info to either build an adapter (to
use a bug tow bar), or how to modify a super beetle tow bar for use on a t-3.

To install the t-4 engine into a t-3 requires a little fabrication of some
mounts and a very hard to find intake cooling boot and duct that attaches to the
engine. You need to find one out of a t-4 wagon, as it's cooling air intake
system is similar to that of a t-3. If you do a search in the Samba t-3 forum,
you'll come across some more good info there, along with doing a search of the
archives here. You might need Greg's help with that one though. : ) I don't
know if your 73 t-4 has a D-jet FI system or not, but if it does, it'll go
right into the t-3 with very little work. I'm going to be doing this swap on my 71
Roadster 2 project in the next few weeks (after the customer t-14 ghia vert
leaves my garage), and I've already test fitted the engine into my old 69
Square, so I'm a little closer to having it done. : ) I hope this helps.
