Yeah, that's where we turned off.  You'll get to see *part* of the 
scenic route the California caravan took. :-)  You should be fine 
gas-wise, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a couple of filled gas 
cans "just in case".  It wouldn't surprise me at all if there's no 
cellular coverage, and it wouldn't be happy if someone happened to run 
out anyway.

It is hot.  It's a dry heat.  It wasn't bad as long as we were moving, 
but I'm a California native.  And I was using the old-fashioned "my 
crotch" cup-holder with the cans of Coke from the ice chest. :-)
