The correct paint for the intake runners is the same as used on VW exhausts -
it's called cold galvanising paint - a zinc rich matt finish - not a glossy sort
of paint at all, or intended as a primer either. It's the most common mistake
I've noticed on top quality professional (is that possible?) restorations. You
need it for the small heat exchangers too. It covers very effectively.

The zinc rich stuff Eastwoods supply is the product I've found - they do a spray
can of it. Item No. 16006 Z at $9.99. They also do a quart can, but mine
didn't seem as good as the spray - almost as if the tin was out of date; the
fact the date stamp was smudged made me suspicious of our UK dealer at the time
(not Eastwood's fault). http://www.eastwoodco.com

It's very effective at reducing rusting, even on top of rust. Spray it into the
inaccessible car cavities when patching up rust holes.

I suppose some people like all the bits of their engine shiny, even matt grey
parts.

Oh, hello Matt - just seen it's you! When Eastwoods had a UK outlet near
Bristol, they did a workshop session on using their products. I think it all
has to come from the USA now - don't know Frost does something similar.
