So, I primed the fuel system, and the car started on the second crank! The first 5 minutes of running I got a little bit of whitish smoke out of the exhaust. Went away eventually. Calling this normal. Engine idled very smooth, especially once it warmed up a little bit. Fuel pressure maintained at 29psi at all engine speeds. Charging system at the battery read 14.8v at medium RPM, 14.5 at high idle. I would have started timing and adjusting the dwell but owing to the fact that it was cold enough for the engine to just stay at high-ish idle (putting my thumb over the AAR port made the engine die) I decided to defer this until the weather warms up a bit. No hurries on this. The bad news: that #4 injector still leaks. Not much, but enough to wet the tinware over that bank of cylinders a little bit. I'm going to pull this injector for another one I think. Maybe if I soak it in kerosene in a few months it'll be ok :). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
