Used injectors should be cleaned (externally), the rubber hose removed, and then stored in kerosene or diesel fuel. This will keep the internals from rusting and the O-rings from shrinking. Ones which have already dried out MAY recover after a week of exposure to gasoline or kerosene. > I may have to resort to cannibalizing a car that's > in restoration mode...then I'll have to search up NEW > injectors, if possible. That might be necessary if the ones you have don't recover, but don't replace any more than necessary. > PLUS... old wires at plug broke. Maybe that was the > problem all along? You should also check to make sure that the female pins are tight on the injector pins, as those often seem to come loose. The pins can be pulled out the back of the connector bodies after you depress the locking tabs from the front. > Will I have to learn how to use VOM equipment etc? It's a useful tool, so the sooner you get familiar with it the better. If your problem is running rich, then the first thing I would check would be the charging system voltage. If the voltage regulator is worn out, then the system voltage will be low and the FI will run rich. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
