The Cal look rubber didnât really start getting bad till the Mid 90's as far as I can tell, stuff made before that did seem to hold up well. It may not be that simple eather as there were likely more than one manufacturer even back then. Just a general rule of thumb, early repro stuff was better than more recent. Look around at the car shows and see what shape the stuff is in and ask when the car was restored... Ive seen a lot of fairly new cracked stuff in recent years even here in NY where the sun isnt bad but I remember a cal look seal on a 72 I had back in 92 that was in good shape after several years service. Did it back when I was in the Navy so that puts installation about 1988 or 1989 because it was after my 21st birthday, judging from the pictures in my photo albums. I wasn't crazy about the exterior chrome so the Cal-look rubber was perfect for me. I remember Dad and I doing the install together. The rubber is still quite pliable. No leaks on the side glass. Front windshield was replaced years later in the mid-90's and that eventually required auto glass sealer (previous discussion). My baby was a daily driver up to the very late '90's, where upon she then became garaged. So she got all the weather for roughly 10 years. But she gets driven in the summer time and sits out in the sun at car shows so it's not all roses for the rubber.
