They have flat jaws which spread when you squeeze the handles and serrations on the OUTSIDE of the jaws. These hold pretty well in the slot on top of the drive gear. Note that you have to lift and turn as you draw the gear out, because the gear is slightly helical. Do this VERY carefully. There are 2 washers under the bottom of the gear. If those fall out of place as you're pulling the gear up, you'll be taking the engine apart to fish them out. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
