The fork that pushes the throwout bearing on the early cars can break one of the arms off. It usually feels a bit different after that happens though. Hi, I was trying to move my 1967 Squareback the other day and found that I could not get it in gear. The clutch pedal goes down and feels pretty normal, but it does not seem to disengage the clutch. I had my wife push the pedal and saw through the back that it was moving. I tightened the cable as far as it would go, but still not disengagement. Can the clutch cable stretch? Or does the Bowden tube flex hat could cause this?
