[T3] It was nice while it lasted but .....

now it is gone. Yesterday morning I pulled my '68 Squareback out of the driveway and
smelled smoke. Smelled like burning rubber. I shut it off in the middle of the street and
grabbed the fire extinguisher out from under the seat. To make a long story short I
couldn't get it out. The Square burned almost completely. What's left went to Austin
Veedub (the local boneyard).

I'd like to get another T3 someday. My 3 year old loved the Squareback but he got very
hot riding in it this summer. I'm thinking about getting a newer VW just to be practical
about it.

As soon as I can get an inventory done I'd like to offer my T3 spares to the list if that's
ok. It's not much but I know I have some used OE 12V coils, a set of '67 carbs that need
rebuilt. I think I have a 67 dizzy too if it wasn't in the Squareback. I got my tools and
manuals out of the trunk but it may have been in back. Sorry, I'm rambling a little. I'm
exhausted.

I know I'll say this again but let me say it now. I've really enjoyed reading the T3 list
everyday for the last 3-4 years. I've learned a lot about old VWs in that time. I really
appreciate all the time and effort you guys put into the list. Thanks guys.

I'm not giving up on old VWs. I haven't driven anything else since '78. Well, I did once
have an '81 Rabbit Sportruck but I had a '73 KG at the same time.

I gotta sign off and get some sleep before I talk all you folks to sleep (or violently hitting
the delete key). ;)

Martin.
