Welding the wishbone on.. well, those arms are gonna flex a little anyway and put huge tearing loads on the welded joints on the torsion tube. Maybe its just that my welding skills arent going to make it for such a joint but Id think that a well thought out hanger mount would be a better idea. My 2 cents anyway, >> My original intention was to put this motor in my 69 with AT, but the AT doesn't have any mounting provisions on it at all. That leaves using it with an MT, and I'm not going to put it in my Notch, so that leaves my 71 T-3 Heb (former Square), since it was equipped for FI and has an MT in it. Remember I'm going with D-jet on this engine, so that means it's going into a 68 and later car, of which I have 3, but only 1 of them that has a MT. I had thought about going with a "kafer brace" for a mid mount, as this would work with an MT, but I'm not sure if it'll let the engine vibrations transfer into the car. My welding skills are fine (been doing it for over 20 years), and I know I can do a wishbone add on successfully, plus I don't have a swing axle sub frame available. As for the tearing loads on the torsion tube, the swing axle has been like this for many years. I intend to add the boxing under the torsion tube like a swing axle uses too, so that should help it some.
