One other thing I notice is that the insulator seems pretty far down inside the body of the SP. If it's that far down, and still white, it is either still its new color, or it's running very hot. What plug (brand and #) are you using? Have you made SURE that your thermostat and linkage are installed right and are working? You should mark the end of the flap shaft with something so that you can verify that it is moving as the engine warms up. I cut a kerf there with a hacksaw to indicate the shaft's motion; that also allows me to twist the shaft with a screwdriver and see if it feels right and is free. EVERY type 3 rebuild should get this mod.
