To even guess at your jetting needs, I expect we'll need to hear what size valves you're running and whether you've ported the heads and exhaust. I imagine you've switched to dual-port heads, right?

Dual-port, but I have no idea what size valves or anything about the porting. I'll ask the engine builder tomorrow when I drop by to pick up a few larger sets of main jets. He's got his own ideas about re-jetting (he thinks best to try 160s next, then back down if too rich) but I wanted to pose the question here as well (for obvious reasons! ;)

Maybe, but probably not. You'll have to determine the full advance of your particular distributor. Manufacturing tolerances on the 009 are quite loose. I'd recommend you buy or borrow a timing light with an advance adjustment, which will make this job easy as pie.

I've always wanted an advance timing light, so this was my excuse. :)  The manual that came with it sucks, so I'm still unclear as to the procedure if I don't have a sure reference point (of 7.5btdc, or whatever) to begin with. Could somebody explain the procedure for setting the advance at max 32? I assume you set the wheel on the light at 32, and then get the engine up to the speed at which the advance is farthest (around 3500rpm) but what line/mark am I looking to adjust to at that point? TDC? 7.5? Sorry for the surely newbie question but I'm only familiar with the cheaper non-advance lights.

Thanks!
