Thanks, that makes me feel better. I was starting to think that I was going nuts. Of course, if you all knew me better, you'd know that that bridge had already been crossed, but I still don't think I've ever seen any kind of paint inside the gas tanks. They always look sort of silver/beige, kind of like steel which has been in long contact with oil. I suppose it's likely that there's some sort of coating there, but I'd expect it to be more of a chemical reactive coating, like a phosphate passivation, rather than a paint that could flake off. I think paint there, including any of the sealants sold for this purpose, are a rather bad idea, and I'd avoid all of them. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
