[T3] Fuel line question
<x-flowed>I'm finally getting around to working on my '71 Fasty. I'm in the middle
of replacing all the front fuel lines. The PO had relocated the fuel
pump to the front right fork on the frame head, and I'm putting it back.
However, the metal plate on which the fuel pump normally mounts has no
rubber grommet on it anymore where the fuel lines pass through to and
from the fuel line muffler. Keeping in mind the Type 1 issue where
vibration eventually cuts into the fuel line, do people think it's solid
enough to cut two halfs of fuel hose and use it around the regular fuel
hose? I'm using the 5/16" american fuel line this time and creating two
half-circles out of it to buffer the fuel line between the metal edge of
the plate and the fuel line itself seems pretty tight, and I'd imagine
it would take a long time for it to get cut through? Is there another
alternative for this?
Also, it seems as if the PO also had the fuel feed and return lines
backwards going through the car. I didn't think this was possible, but I
was wondering why the car would take forever for the RPM to increase as
I hit the accelerator. I'd imagine there was very little pressure on the
other side of that fuel pressure regulator and fuel was just kind of
getting "dumped in" to the fuel ring. Would this mean the regulator
isn't apt to hold pressure once I get things going in the right
direction? I'd rather replace it now while I'm doing all the fuel lines
than later...
