Is the cutout for access to the TC bolts handmade? I don't think there's much chance of damaging that plug under normal conditions, but I'm guessing that VW thought there was some chance of a drive plate failing occasionally and taking out a plug installed in the MT orientation. OTOH, the MT flywheel is clearly never going to do this. Putting the plug in inverted just means that a flex plate failure won't also lead to an engine teardown; it's just one more bit of insurance that you'll probably never cash in on, but you should invert it when you put your engine back together. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
