Re: [T3] ebay Ghia

<x-flowed>The one in the link is a type 1 Ghia and should have a type 1 upright engine. It is correct for this car. Type 1 Ghia is based on the Beetle pan (although wider) and has all the same mechanicals as a Beetle. Type 3 Ghias are based on Type 3 pan and have our "flat" motor.

Hope that clears it up........

I wasn't able to view the link you sent, but: you may not know that there are two quite different Karmann Ghias, the Type 14, introduced in '55, and the Type 34, introduced with the rest of the Type 3 line in '61. Karmann built ten times as many 14s as 34s, and the Type 14 is what almost eveyone thinks of when you say 'Karmann Ghia.' 14s have Type 1 engines, 34s are Type 3s through and through.

(It may be a testament to the recently more vocal style of Type 34 drivers that this question came up, but I guess we may need to share more pictures.)
