I hadn't thought about PCV...did our cars use that system to > purge the case of oil vapors? The late (72-3) breather box has 2 plastic caps in it. That breather must ONLY be used with the '72-3 FI intake air distributor, which has a special port that the breather valve connects to. If you don't want to use that IAD, then you should change to the earlier breather box and the filler pipe that goes with it. The late breather box has a valve that won't open unless there is some pressure differential across it. With the late IAD there is a vacuum on the other side. Without the late IAD, the case pressure will build up enough to blow oil out the rear crank opening before that valve will open. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
