Her car is carbed, but the above info still applied to it. Turns out the the tank screen was indeed clogged, and cleaning it helped her car out. Definitely worth taking a look, and you only need an 8mm socket or wrench to be able to remove the sending unit, and a flashlite to see the screen and sump in the bottom of the fuel tank. Unhook one of the battery terminals be for starting this though (for safety). I hope this helps.
