Very good question. Lately it seems that the needle valve and seats are of
varying quality (doesn't seem to make a difference on supplier), and that the
old ones are usually still good. If he replaced the one for the carb on the 1-2
side, then that might be a good place to start. Other than the needle valves
and seats, the kits are usually pretty good. The carbs themselves are usually
pretty bullet proof, and fairly easy to work on. If he has access to the
internet, he might want to look at this page, and maybe print it out.
