I wondered about this- outside of an obvious fuel leak (from a hose or
an injector, for instance) the only other places where I would believe
would have an effect of maintaining the system pressurized is the
pressure regulator or this component in the fuel pump. The regulators
are a pretty bulletproof piece of hardware I'm told, which leaves this
pump component as a potential culprit. What else could it possibly be?
Even vapor lock would maintain some level of pressurization (with vapor,
of course, but still) but the pump itself would still be primed in that
case to push the vapor through.
