OK now I've honed out the cylinder and the piston moves in there like butter. It's all sealed up with shiny Canadian Dime because my FLAPS didn't have the right size of frost plug. Anyway the piston does not stick at all but my car still won't start with the choke enabled. Here's what happens. I turn the key on and kick the accelerator pedal and the choke valve snaps fully shut. When the starter is operated the choke valve opens just a bit but the car won't start. If I hold the valve open I can get the car to start so I'm guessing the valve isn't opening far enough?
